How to Tackle Your Postpartum Journey

Hi Mom!

We are so proud of you for bringing a precious new life onto this earth! Becoming a new mom is so rewarding but navigating this journey can also come with challenges. This period is one that is beautiful, chaotic and might test your limits but this wild ride will push you to be the strong and resilient mom that you are. We are here to provide you with advice for your new journey.

The first must-have is all about you, Mom. The period after birth is a huge adjustment to your daily life. Your new little human is going to be your main priority, but self-care is so crucial for you and your little one’s well being. You may feel like you never want to leave the snuggles and the comfort of them in your arms but it is important to balance your time. Since you will be up often in the night, be sure to prioritize rest when you have time. Don’t feel discouraged and remember to ask for help, even if it may feel like you want to do everything yourself.   Say “Yes” to support as often as you can, whether it's a few minutes of alone time or a yummy home cooked meal delivered by a friend. Communicate your needs with a family member or partner and try to establish a schedule that works so everyone has a balanced time for themselves. Your mental and physical health is so crucial for the wellbeing of you and your new little one!

Postpartum recovery also may come with a lot of emotions that you have never experienced before. This is why it is vital to take care of YOU after you have your little one. This is a completely new world to you, so be easy on yourself. It is completely normal to feel tired, or anxious, or scared and this does reflect who you are as a parent. Every day is a new day, one day that will feel great and the next day it may feel challenging, but as time goes on, each step will begin to come more  natural to you. If these feelings become too overwhelming, be sure to communicate with your partner or family member so they can get the help you may need.

Not only is mental health important, but your body will also go through a lot of physical changes. Plan beforehand for the supplies you would need most.  Remember your vaginal and breast care and all the ‘things’ that help your body to feel comfortable. Also, remember to fuel your body with nutritious foods and stay hydrated to keep your body healthy through this transition. Be patient with your body and let it heal, you are doing great Mom!

The  postpartum journey, might test your limits but once it's over, you will look back and cherish every moment. There is nothing you can’t do Mom!
